Walking With Trees tour information:

Acton Park, once the grounds of Acton Hall, has a rich history including victrian era tree planting which involved the introduction of a broad collection of trees from all over the world including the sweet chestnut tree, a monkey puzzle and ginkgo trees. As we walk around the park, James will share a wealth of fun facts about each species we see. This is a must for anyone with even the slightest interest in trees and will be sure to engage and inspire you!

The Walking With Trees tour will start at 10am, begining at the Cunliffe Bowling Club, which is located behind the Cunliffe Arms Pub off Jeffreys Road. The walk will be slow paced and stick mainly to tarmac paths. It will last 2 hours, ending at 12pm back at the bowling club. Toilet facilities at the bowling club will be available to use at 10am at the start of the walk and between 12-12.30pm.

Information for enjoying a morning at the park:

Acton Park, once the grounds of Acton Hall, has a rich history and today benefits from a fishing lake, childrens playground, tennis courts, stone circle, woodland and open grassland. Tarmac paths allow you to explore the whole park, with benches along the way and open grassy areas that are perfect for picnics! There is lots of bird life at the park including ducks on the lake wich enjoy being fed a healthy mix of oats, peas, sweetcorn, corn and bird seed. This is a great activity for little ones, but we do ask to please refrain from feeding bread as it holds no nutritional value for the ducks/birds and fills them up which stops them forraging for their natural (and nutritionally complete) food on the lake. There are no public toilets at the park but toilets at the bowling club can be used at 10am at the start of the walking with trees tour and at 12.15pm at the end of the walking with trees tour.

The bus service and tree walk are completely free, paid for by the Local Places For Nature grant from Welsh Government to provide those without transport the opportunity to acess our country parks and provide educational talks on nature to the public. There are 14 seats available on the bus, please "purchase" a (free) ticket to confirm your place on the bus.
