True Story Theateris a nonprofit improv theater company.   Our mission is to promote social healing through theatre by building empathy, respect, and understanding in the honoring of true stories.Come to a performance: A few volunteers from the audience share what’s important to them related to the theme of the show. Actors listen deeply then spontaneously transform the stories into theater, portraying the heart of what they heard using dialogue, movement, music and song.  From this simple interaction, people laugh, cry and experience surprising insights.Try a drop-in c﻿lass: Anyone interested is welcome--no theatre experience necessary.  Come and have fun and share stories with other playful people.H﻿ire us to perform for your group or family for a special event.

Join this four-part series to develop skills as Upstanders.

Are you interested in continuing to develop your skills as an Upstander in a practice group after taking a Bystander Intervention Training with True Story Theater? Is there a conversation you want to have with someone about a harmful thing they said, but you need a little more courage and practice before meeting with them? True Story Theater is offering this four-part closed practice group on September 9 &amp; 23 and October 7 &amp; 21 from 4:00-5:30pm ET for people interested in developing their skills alongside committed group-mates. Please note that there are four dates, but you only need to sign up for the first event.This is a wonderful opportunity to bring your specific questions regarding intervening or conversing with people after they make biased remarks. We will be using your personal scenarios to practice building our skills around follow-up dialogue, effectively intervening, addressing our blindspots, and inviting feedback.In this specific closed group, we will prioritize developing ally-ship and support over the four weeks to both assist one another&#x27;s growth in dealing with challenging situations, and practice engaging with real-life encounters and potential dialogues with people we know in our real lives.This group is specifically for people who are willing to work with the group over the four weeks. We hope you can join! However, It is a requirement that you commit to all four sessions. If you are unable to make every session, we recommend you join our open practice group that requires no long-term commitment instead. When you pay for your ticket, you will have access to our Online Event Page and the Zoom link to join every session. You will also receive an email from the host prior to the bi-weekly events.
