Active By Design Summit

Consortium of North Suburban Environmental Groups & Illinois Bone and Joint Institute

Join leaders from more than a dozen north and northwest suburban communities in a discussion with local and national experts on the safety, health, economic, environmental and social benefits of designing communities that promote physical activity.
Summit speakers will include nationally renowned active transportation advocate Mark Fenton and Eric Chehab, MD of Illinois Bone and Joint Institute.  A panel of local community leaders will present complete street enhancements in their hometowns and strategies for funding healthier places for walking and bicycling. This summit is intended for local city and municipal government officials, school and park district representatives, and those interested in learning more about active community design. Registration is required for this free event.
Fenton is a national public health, planning and transportation consultant, an adjunct associate professor at Tufts University's Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and former host of the "America's Walking" series on PBS television. Eric Chehab, MD is an orthopedic surgeon with Illinois Bone & Joint Institute and the clinical lead of IBJI's OrthoHealth Program.
