Active Assailant Simulation Training (SRO/LE)

The Center for Safer Schools is housed in the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. DPI, with its expertise in the fields of student support services, facilitating safe environments for learning, and continuing education training for teachers, is uniquely situated to ensure that communities in North Carolina receive the information and technical assistance they need to become better prepared to prevent and respond to all forms of school safety threats. The Center for Safer Schools provides a one-stop shop of school safety information and customer services to schools, law enforcement, youth-serving agencies, juvenile justice officials, community leaders, policymakers, parents and students.

The Center for Safer Schools will hold in-person Active Assailant Simulation Training on Nov. 7 from 8:30 am-3:30 pm in Moore County, N.C.

Samarcand Training Academy

<p>This course is for school resource officers and law enforcement that provides a simlulation of active shooter incidents. This course teaches best practices to prevent, recognize, plan and react to an active assailant incident. Strategies are provided that can be applied in a facility’s Emergency Action Plan including tactics on how to escape, hide, and fight against an assailant attack.</p><p>Contact Center for Safer Schools School Safety Training Coordinator Jeff Branch (jeffrey.branch@dpi.nc.gov) if you need to stay at Samarcand Training Academy (no charge).</p>
