Dive into a full-body improvisational practice that uses sound, movement, and language to play, imagine, and create the unknown
A 3 hour, all-levels-welcome dive into improvisational play. In small groups and/or solo, we'll play through exercises and games using sound, movement, and/or language to train how to physicalize and play with what is present in our body/mind/imagination/energy. Silly, serious, pedestrian, mythological, animal, and alien - all parts of us are invited in the play of Action Theater.
Sliding scale donation, $0.25-$50. Can pay through eventbrite or pay at the class - I'll have venmo and paypal QR codes, also accept cash :)
I’m a certified Action Theater teacher who was introduced to the practice in 2018 at Emerson College and instantly fell in love. I’ve studied and played in the world of Theater for most of my life, but am multi-disciplinary, and love Action Theater’s capacity to hold a variety of backgrounds. I love to sing, dance, speak, draw, photograph, cook, blah blah blah blah blah. Improvisation is my life-blood, it’s my way through this life. While I have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy performing rehearsed pieces, there is something about standing on the edge of the unknown…and stepping forward. Dancing, despite it all.
