About this event

HeartCode® ACLS is designed for healthcare professionals who need Advanced Cardiac Life Support training for their clinical duties. Utilizing a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, Cognitive Assessment Activities, illustrations, knowledge checks, and interactive activities, this program teaches ACLS knowledge and skills.

This program has two portions.

  1. Online cognitive portion. --HeartCode® ACLS Online is a self-directed, comprehensive eLearning program that uses adaptive learning technology to allow learners to acquire and demonstrate Advanced Cardiac Life Support skills using a personalized learning path that adapts in real-time to a learner’s performance.
  2. In-person skills validation session:
    • Tuesday session is 0800-1300

Students who successfully complete the cognitive portion and the hands-on session (skills) will receive an AHA ACLS Provider course completion card (eCard), valid for two years.

Online Cognitive Portion:

This must be completed before the date and time you register to attend. Please utilize Chrome or Mozilla Firefox Browser (Internet Explorer frequently has difficulties loading and running AHA programs).

This method of learning provides training consistency and adaptability to different learning styles. Students can work at their own pace applying their knowledge to real-time decision making. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each knowledge check and each Cognitive Assessment Activity.

  • PLHS employees will be issued a course key to access the online portion after completing your online registration; you will receive an email from "elearning.heart.org" with the link and course key information.
  • Non-Employees will need to go to purchase Heartcode ACLS Online course key to access the online portion. elearning.heart.org/course/438

Skills Validation (the date and time you register for):

  • Please bring your certificate of completion of the online cognitive portion: You must complete the online portion first then must print the certificate of completion at the end of the online portion. You will need to bring the certificate to your instructor when you attend the skills validation portion. It is necessary to show that you completed the online portion and passed the exam. If you do not have your certificate of completion, you will not be able to complete the skills practice and testing of the course.
  • Professionals not employed by Prairie Lakes must bring a copy of their current BLS card.
  • Log in information & passwords for:
  • American Heart Association (elearning.heart.org)
  • PLHS staff also need: Extranet & Healthstream login info

Please wear loose, comfortable clothing. You will be practicing skills that require working on your hands and knees, bending, standing, and lifting. If you have physical conditions that might prevent you from participating in the course, please inform the instructors when you arrive for the session. The instructor will work to accommodate your needs within the stated course completion requirements.
