<H2>Event Date and Location</H2>
The monthly accessibility meet-up for Accessibility DC is at Blackboard here in Washington, DC. The event will be on May 17, 2018, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Event registration will close at noon on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, so Blackboard has time to inform building security who is going to attend. You will not be let into the building if you are not on the list. 
<H2>Logistics</H2>
Attendees MUST register for the event through EventBrite with their first and last name to be added to the attendee list. Present a valid, photo ID upon entry into the building. No exceptions will be made. This event is free and open to the public. Registration will close the day before.

<H2>About the Meetup </H2>
Accessibility DC is a monthly meetup that meets the first Thursday of every month except this month. The event is a chance for people who are interested in Accessibility to get together and share information.  They could be Web developers, designers, content people, photographers, videographers, who are interested in web accessibility or adaptive technology users who have a daily experience of accessibility issues are all welcome to attend.
<H2>Schedule</H2>
Below is a breakdown of the schedule and how the meeting will unfold. Would greatly appreciate it if you can make sure you are on time so we can get started on time.
6:30 PM - 6:45 PM - Welcome everyone.
6:45 PM - 8:30 PM - At this month’s Accessibility DC meetup James Deitz who is an Accessibility Analyst for Level Access Inc. will be at Blackboard in-person in celebration of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GADD) will be giving an overview of how to use a screen reader. A more detailed agenda will follow in reminder e-mails.
In the next year or so we will be having more hands-on-demos on how to use and test with screen readers. The talks will be broken into three desktop talk on JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver. Along with two discussions on mobile and tablet screen reader talks on VoiceOver and TalkBack. We will be asking those with the screen reader or device to bring theirs to the event so you and others can get a few hands-on-demos so you can listen and then practice what you learned. 
<H3>Description </H3>
James Dietz will cover what it is like to use a screen-reader, focusing on how using a screen-reader without eyesight is different from using a computer with functioning eyesight. Bio
James Dietz is an accessibility professional who uses his technical knowledge and powers of explanation to help people understand and implement accessibility, and make sure that as many people can use their website as possible.
8:30 PM - 9:00 PM - We will clean-up and get ready to head out possibly for a bit more to eat and drink. 
<H2>Talk Ideas</H2>
We are always looking for people or even groups to lead a talk or presentation about anything accessibility related for the group. <H2>Future Events</H2>
On June 7 Whitney Quesenbery will be giving a talk on accessible voting. Followed on August 2 with a talk by Aaron Gustafson. More details to follow on these talks to come, but wanted you to know so you could pencil the dates on your calendars.
