Join us for an evening of good food and poetry, shaped by you. We will focus on celebrating the traditions we create around the dining table and its connection to the people, things and places we have loved and lost.
Food and cooking are vital as a means of ritual and remembrance. They are intertwined so deeply with our sense of identity, culture and heritage. Evoking within us an understanding of belonging, home and ancestral past. Through the dishes we put to our mouths, we are able to bring back that special dessert Grandmother used to make on a Sunday afternoon and acknowledge her death as well as the lasting impact of her life in the process of its recreation. It is the opportunity to enable the recall of love and experience through the sensory.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday 12th June and bring a meal, dish or food item with you (it doesn’t have to be anything fancy!) which gives rise to feelings of loss and remembrance. The space has a kitchen where you will have the chance to make any last minute additions to your food.
The evening will be divided into three parts:
WRITE - writing workshop led by trainee psychotherapist, Ellie Montgomery
PAINT - visual workshop led by practicing artist from Touching Palms Studio, Anna May
EAT - share the food and memories you cherish with others
Tickets are £10 and include a cocktail (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) on arrival, wine and soft drinks available throughout the evening as well as materials for the workshops. Please get in touch if you have any questions (ellie.montgomery28@gmail.com).
