About this event

Join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary Abundance: The Farmlink Story, directed by Owen Dudeck. The film explores youth-led solutions to food insecurity and wasted food. This event is co-hosted by Food Rescue US - Fairfield County, Westport Farmers’ Market, Wakeman Town Farm, Sustainable Westport, and the Farmlink Project.

Panel discussion with food system leaders and experts including Owen Dubeck (the Farmlink Project), Renee Giroux (NW CT Regional Food Hub), Elaine Daignault (Town of Westport), Haley Schulman (Food Rescue US) to discuss the intersection of local agriculture and food security moderated by Chef Michel Nischan of Wholesome Wave.

About the Farmlink Project:

Over 600+ college students and industry experts have developed an innovative solution to alleviating hunger while limiting food loss and waste in the last three years.

The Farmlink Project community has catalyzed a national movement to end hunger in our lifetimes. Their work was recognized in 2021 by the Citizen Medal of Honor Service Award and, more recently, by the 2022 Jefferson Award for Public Service.

About The NW CT Regional Food Hub:

The Nw CT Regional Food Hub since conception in 2016 as a founding manager. The North West CT Regional Food Hub works with over 30 farmers in the region, aggregates produce and delivers it to local restaurants, 8 school districts and other wholesale buyers. The NW CT Food Hub contributes to social and economic impact through our region by creating new market channels for farmers, solving logistic problems through trucking, online aggregation, and providing a substantial amount of fresh food to the food at risk population. https://www.nwctfoodhub.org/

About Food Rescue US:

Food Rescue US is dedicated to eliminating hunger and food waste. We engage volunteers and food donors through our proprietary web-based app to directly transfer nutritious excess food to social service agencies serving the food insecure. In doing this, we change lives and we also critically address climate change by keeping food out of the waste stream and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
