Art At Your Fingertips is a Palos Verdes Art Center school-based outreach program. This program brings visual arts education to elementary school classrooms from developmental kindergarten through sixth grade.  Started in 1976 by PVAC volunteers dismayed by the loss of art education in the schools, 300 volunteer docents attend ten on-site workshops in order to deliver five, quality, standards-based art projects to 7,000 students grades DK-5 in public and private school on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. This venerable program has developed partnerships to expand PVAC’s reach beyond the Peninsula to ethnically diverse, underserved students throughout Los Angeles County.

At training workshops, the artist who developed each project teaches the volunteers who, in turn, teach the students in their individual classrooms. Training stresses the methodology as well as the art historical and cultural context for each project. The program culminates each spring when more than 1,000 pieces of student art from all participating schools and grade levels fill the Art Center galleries in a month-long exhibition.
