Joyful Liberation Collective is a 501c3 mindfulness organization that creates healing spaces for historically excluded communities and social justice education for all. Through embodied practice and compassionate conversations, we are a community of mindful changemakers moving towards personal and collective liberation. We believe that our breath can transform and free all of us — in this moment and beyond.

We would like to hold space for our AAPI community at this time to come and heal together. Our session will include a meditation exercise to help ground us, group share and journaling exercises to reflect and navigate, and a movement exercise to help heal through traumatic experiences we are facing.Our workshop will include:Meditation exercise hosted by Steven WakabayashiJournaling and guided reflection hosted by Kim ThaiTrauma-informed movement hosted by Hien HongThe space we are holding is for our AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) community at this time. If you identify as East Asian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, Pacific Islander, Native Hawaiian, and Mixed-Race, we welcome you into this space. Hosts:Hien HongHien Hong (she/her) is a Vietnamese American yoga and meditation teacher and mentor. She teaches from a trauma-informed lens and creates space for BIPOC to practice and find healing. Hien believes in disrupting the systems that make wellness inaccessible in order to reclaim the practices.Kim ThaiKim Thai (she/her) is an Emmy-award-winning producer who is a proud kid of Vietnamese refugees. She is the founder of GaneshSpace, a soon-to-be nonprofit that creates spaces to dismantle internalized oppression through mindfulness. As a queer Asian mindfulness teacher and writer, she shares engaged Buddhism teachings and indigenous sound practices to help people express themselves authentically and to see their wholeness. Steven WakabayashiSteven Wakabayashi (he/him) is a second-generation Japanese-Taiwanese-American, creating equitable spaces digitally and in New York City. In 2019, he traveled around the world for a year to study meditation in six countries and sitting in silence for two months. He&#x27;s the host of Yellow Glitter, a podcast on mindfulness through queer Asian perspectives, and is the founder of QTBIPOC Design – an organization empowering LGBTQ+ designers of color with education, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
