Visual Memoir by Tony Chirinos

"I have always viewed the world through the lens of a camera, seeking to encapsulate its essence in a single frame. My journey in photography spans 42 years, during which I've documented the places I've been and the people I've encountered. Each image serves as a fragment of my memory, constantly evolving and shifting over time.

My engagement with photography is a dialogue with memory itself. Whether capturing moments of joy or sorrow, each photograph becomes a tangible imprint of experience. Through the medium of film, I explore the alchemy of chemistry and light, transforming raw materials into evocative images. The final print is the culmination of this process, a testament to the journey from capture to creation.

In addition to capturing moments, I am compelled to interpret them. Before and after the shutter clicks, I grapple with the significance of what I see. Visual memoir, to me, is not just about the image itself, but the narrative it conveys. It's about the stories that unfold when we pause to truly see a photograph." - Tony Chirinos

This gallery opening is happening in conjunction with our Customer Gallery opening for Leslie Sternlieb. Stay tuned for her upcoming Leica Lounge on Friday, July 7th at 7 PM.

Little Landscapes by Leslie Sternlieb

"The photos on view, shot with either a Leica CL or Q2 Monochrom, represent my most current work, all of which were taken either in my Coral Gables backyard or somewhere nearby. I think of them as little landscapes—beguiling worlds brought close with macro lenses. I recently began photographing botanicals, and am especially intrigued by the magic that happens when shooting fairly wide open to create sharp/soft focus distinctions, often bringing the dreamy Leica bokeh into play. Although I may render a subject literally, I’ve been moving toward more abstract forms, and have even indulged in a little intentional camera movement to offer painterly (or ghostly) romance. Convinced that beauty may be mined from nearly everything, I’ve taken on the challenge of shooting all life stages of plants and flowers—from vibrant blooms to elegant decay." - Leslie Sternlieb

Nearly 100 years ago, Oskar Barnack’s genius idea of a small format 35 mm camera created a revolution in photography, paving the way for the birth of the Leica Legend. His diminutive, lightweight Leica offered a new, undreamed-of freedom in reportage and artistic photography. From that point to the present day, Leica has had a profound influence on our view of the world we live in. And remarkably, you can still savour this sheer visual enjoyment time and time again whenever you use a Leica product to provide that unique visual perspective.

Here at the Leica Store Miami we are truly thrilled for the opportunity to share our passion for photography with the community.
