About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

Join the Zamir Chorale of Boston (Joshua Jacobson, Artistic Director) for a delightful evening of cabaret and classical music, with Andrew Mattfeld, guest conductor and Master of Ceremonies. The concert features music by well-known composers from the U.S., Israel, France, and Germany, whose talents often crossed genres. Enjoy a sample of Kurt Weill’s The Threepenny Opera along with his setting of the Kiddush, or the pairing of Jack Gottlieb’s Downtown Blues for Uptown Halls with his “Half Kaddish.”

Other composers include Bernstein, Kander, Milhaud, Schoenberg, and more. Our tapestry even weaves in poetry—and some surprises.

This is a hybrid program with tickets for in-person and online viewing.

The Zamir Chorale of Boston’s mission is to awaken audiences of all ages, religions, and races to the breadth and beauty of Jewish culture. Founded in 1969 by Dr. Joshua Jacobson, Artistic Director, Zamir educates, inspires, and entertains through performances, symposia, recordings, publications, and the commissioning of new musical works.

Zamir performs music spanning hundreds of years and four continents. The Chorale's repertoire includes Jewish liturgical pieces, major classical works, music of the Holocaust, as well as Israeli, Yiddish, and Ladino folksongs, and now offers virtual programming.
