Welcome to A Perfect Year for Mt. San Jacinto Wildflowers event happening on Sun, Jun 30, 2024 at 8:45 AM at the Long Valley Ranger Station! Get ready to witness the beauty of the wildflowers in full bloom on Mt. San Jacinto. Join us for a day of hiking, photography, and exploring the stunning displays of colorful blooms. DETAILS

Hike Leader: Colin Barrows is a Coachella Valley naturalist who works to promote restoring relationships between people and their environment. He works with local agencies to advance habitat conservation, recreational trails planning, and promote community science to grow public understanding and appreciation of desert ecosystems. Colin is Environmental Programs Coordinator at the UCR Palm Desert Center, and serves on the boards of the Mt San Jacinto Natural History Association and CactusToCloud Institute.

  • Event Date and Time: Sunday, July 14 at 8:45 am. (see our website for instructions on purchasing Tram tickets and arriving on time) Remember MEMBERS receive a 20% discount on Tram tickets.
  • Meet at: Long Valley Ranger Statiom. Proceed down the ramp to Long Valley. At the bottom turn right and continue to the Ranger Station.
  • Difficulty level: Easy. We may include an optional extension to a more moderate destination, depending on the ability and interest of the group.
  • Distance: 2 miles round trip.


  • REQUIREMENTS
  • Everyone must register. Only 1 registrant per order. Additional participants in your party must register separately using their name..
  • Each person must bring their own water (We recommend a minimum of 1 liter of water per person). Snacks, lunch, and day hiking gear are recommended.
  • Please Leave No Trace on the mountain.
  • Anyone under the age of 18 (minimum age 14) must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
  • Proper hiking attire, i.e. hiking clothes, hiking boots (not tennis shoes!), hat, sunglasses.
  • Hiking poles are suggested, but not mandatory.
  • We will depart at 9:00 am and return in the early afternoon.
