Join us for the opening of New World Coming, an exhibition presented by Queer Cultural Center (QCC) and Tiara Amar, as part of the Spring Queer Arts Festival (SQAF). This 1-month exhibition visualizes queer erotics in political poetry from the 1980s and 1990s, cherishing the revolution for its moments of longing and fantasy.

To mark the opening, we’re celebrating with an evening of poetry that connects archives, longing, and anti-imperialist resistance. Tiara Amar, a Bengali transdisciplinary artist, organizer, and curator based in Oakland, leads the event, blending writing, still and moving images, and percussion to explore the magic of Bay Area earthscapes and queer/trans life.

New World Coming honors intergenerational delusion as a blueprint for resistance. The archives are our inheritance. This project seeks to make archival works more accessible through a gallery space that builds out an intertwined history of queer longing and anti-imperialist struggle. The opening night will feature poetry and work by Joshua Merchant, Sarah O'Neal, Huma Dar, and yAyA Porras + amy reed, Aja Lenae, Leena Joshi, and Tanea Lunsford Lynx.
