About this event
- Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes
THE EVENT: Enjoy a midday springtime pause to connect with nature in the midst of the city, refresh breath and body, and tap innate creativity and playfulness in Baltimore's geologically unique Stony Run Creek.
Join Lala Bodi Yoga founder Laura Glaeser (RYT 200) and artist/anthropologist Jana Kopelent Rehak for a fun and immersive afternoon of guided nature-based movement, zen drawing, and photography alongside part of Baltimore's Mafic Complex -- a geologically magical place where what once was ocean floor is now the ground beneath our feet.
Our session will open by hiking to and settling beside our creekside space. As we drop into stillness, we'll connect to our breath, bring attention to the land and its rich geological story, and invite gentle yogic movement into our bodies to circulate breath and energy and clear space for creativity.
From there, more focused artistic exploration begins. Drawing chalk lines, we'll connect our eye and hand with the landscape, deepening our awareness of place. We'll then expand our movement and begin exploring the colors deposited in the land and reflected in the water through photography and pastels. We'll close our session by returning to quiet reflection and sharing our work.
While this afternoon retreat welcomes all-levels of participants, accessing the space requires ~5-10 minutes of walking from the meeting point and entails crossing some rocky and uneven terrain.
No previous art or yoga experience required.
Investment: $75/person. All art supplies included.
Rain date: 10 May, 12-2:30p
