The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center celebrates the life and legacy of Malcolm X on what would have been his 99th Birthday.

Join us for A Moment in History: Living the Legacy New Exhibition, an unveiling of a new, permanent exhibition at the Shabazz Center.

The landmark exhibition at The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center in Harlem provides the most authentic viewing at the lives of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz.

The exhibition, which opens Sunday, May 19, 2024, explores how the iconic activist’s legacy and influence on the human rights struggle lives on in the historic Audubon Ballroom where he was martyred in 1965 which has been transformed into The Shabazz Center.

Through vibrant visuals and immersive text, visitors can learn more about the history that changed the trajectory of both Malcolm X, Dr. Betty Shabazz, and the lives that paved the way for social justice movements in literature, music and civil liberties. Quotes from the iconic Shabazz couple appear in panels that span the walls of the building, and with reminders of their powerful and timeless messages.
