What the world needs is more pie—and you’re about to learn how to make one of the best! Celebrate the joys of summer fruit season by baking a classic cherry pie topped with a beautifully woven lattice crust. In this hands-on class, food writer and chef-instructor Shawnie Kelley will guide you step-by-step through making a perfect buttery crust and a sweet-tart cherry filling from scratch.
You’ll learn how to weave a lattice top, get creative with decorative pie crust accents, and dive into the baking science behind different cherry varieties and the difference between butter vs. lard crusts. While your pie is baking, you’ll enjoy a taste of freshly baked cherry pie à la mode and a refreshing summer drink. Plus, you’ll make a homemade pie crust to take home and try your new skills again!
This class runs approximately 2.5 hours, and each participant leaves with a baked pie and pie dough for their next masterpiece.
