Thames Water invites you to join us at our Farmoor Reservoir site for our Monthly Bat Walk. The walk will be led by our Nature Reserve Warden, Peter Philp, who wild provide bat detectors to help us identify the bat species on the evening.
Please don’t forget to book (click on the ‘Reserve a spot’ button)
(Don't forget to cancel, if you can no longer attend, so someone else can take your place).
We will look over the Reservoirs as well as at Pinkhill and Shrike Meadows. We hope to encounter several Bat species including Pipistrelles and Daubentons. Our Moth Traps should also be running (weather provided) and we will stop and look at what is coming to the light.
Accessibility & risks: many of the paths are surfaced or firm. However, some areas may be uneven or muddy. Please dress appropriately for the habitat and weather. A torch is essential as it will be dark before we finish (a headtorch would be ideal). Binoculars would be useful for the earlier part of the evening, if you have them, so we can have a good look at the wildlife we encounter.
Meet in the Main Car Park at Farmoor Reservoir, Cumnor Road, Farmoor. We will then drive around the reservoir to the Nature Reserves. (Please note that you are not normally allowed to drive around the reservoir).
