This year, Workday is celebrating Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) by hosting a virtual conversation with disability activist, writer, media maker, and consultant, Alice Wong. Alice lost her ability to speak last year, but that doesn't mean she doesn't still have a lot to say. Register now to learn more about Alice's disability advocacy, views on digital accessibility, the importance of community in combating ableism, and more. Have a question for Alice Wong? Alice Wong is a disabled activist, writer, editor, media maker, and consultant. She has been published in outlets like the New York TimesVoxRadiolab, and Curbed SF. Her activism and work has also been widely featured, including CNNHuffington PostKQEDWired, The Hill, and Al Jazeera. She is also the founder and director of the Disability Visibility Project, an online community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture.

From 2013 to 2015 Alice also served as a member of the National Council on Disability, an independent federal agency charged with advising the President, Congress, and other federal agencies regarding policies, programs, practices, and procedures that affect people with disabilities, appointed by President Barack Obama. Alice was the recipient of the 2016 AAPD Paul G. Hearne Leadership Award, an award for emerging leaders with disabilities who exemplify leadership, advocacy, and dedication to the broader cross-disability community.

Alice lives in San Francisco, where she works with clients such as Netflix, Twitter, and other disability rights organizations. Her debut memoir, Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life is available now from Vintage Books. Disability Intimacy, her next anthology, will be out in 2024.

Where will this be held?

Alice is physically unable to speak, how will a conversation occur?

Attendees can submit questions in advance, and Alice will use a text-to-speech app to answer. To give Alice plenty of time to review questions and have answers ready, we ask that all questions be submitted by Tuesday, April 30th.

What do I do if I need accommodations?
