About this event

  • 5 hours

A Bolder Way Forward’s (BWF) 2nd Annual Summit is a celebration of the progress made in the first year (of seven), an opportunity to learn more about the movement, and a place to become more engaged and inspired about this critical work! Remarks will be given by Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, and renowned violinist Jenny Oaks Baker will perform. The event is nearly filled so register quickly.

The statewide movement focuses on making Utah a place where more girls and women can thrive in any setting. Launched in June 2023, a BWF focuses on creating societal change in Utah.

A BWF is framed around systems thinking, which is that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” In Utah, we have been working on related efforts for too long using the “parts” strategy; BWF organizes a shift that moves us together as a system. Over the past year, 18 areas of focus (spokes) have been organized and established along with 12 additional impact teams to assist with issues that permeate across and influence each area of focus. BWF coalitions have also been established in each of Utah’s 29 counties.

This event provides an update on the momentum that a BWF has created since June 2023 and designates ample time for leaders of the 18 spoke areas to meet with their respective members. Areas include childcare/pre-K programs, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, entrepreneurship, finances, gender pay gap, health across the lifespan, higher education attainment, home and family, K-12 initiatives, leadership development, organizational strategies and workplace culture, political and civic engagement, poverty and homelessness, sexual assault, sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination, STEM fields, and workforce development. Breakout sessions will also include an opportunity to join an impact team as well (50+ thriving, arts and music, disabilities, interfaith, LGBTQ+, male allyship, neurodiversity, race and ethnicity, refugees and immigrants, sexism, veterans and service women, and women’s history).
