Telesur Suriname's biggest telco has actively empowered innovation since 2011 by establishing TMIL as in innovation hub for development of innovation in Suriname through seminars, hackathons and product development sessions.IT-Core Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer driven foundation that promotes innovation in ICT for young ones in Suriname (http://www.it-core.sr). Organizing hackathons, IoT challenges and RoboKidz STEM courses for young ones they have joined forces with Telesur to organize this Telesur / IT-Core Hackathon 2016.

Fishackathon was launched in 2014 around Secretary Kerry’s Our Ocean conference. Fishackathon was established to congregate brilliant minds for the purpose of developing usable solutions to address the problem of worldwide overfishing. Overfishing harms the marine environment and diminishes the already meager income of small scale fishermen. Fishackathon brings together computer programmers to find innovative ways to collect and analyze data, and find solutions for unsustainable fishing practices. Fishackathon 2016 is hosted by the U.S. Department of State, and is the third annual event. Paramaribo, Capital of Suriname joins this event for the first time to as host site the for the Guyanas. We welcome you to our city and will do our utmost to make this an unforgettable experience.
