Join us for the opening reception of From Disco Days to the Tech Craze: 50 Years of ArtSpan SF Open Studios presented in the Jewett Gallery located on the lower level of the Main Library at 100 Larkin Street.This archival exhibition presents 50 years of ephemera, art, and stories from artists who have participated in our citywide program. From Disco Days to the Tech Craze: 50 Years of ArtSpan SF Open Studios invites you to immerse yourself in the rich history of SF Open Studios and ArtSpan’s unwavering commitment to uplifting the local art scene.Through SF Open Studios and initiatives to address critical issues affecting artists, ArtSpan plays an integral role in supporting local creators, preserving San Francisco's status as a global hub of creativity, counter-culture and free-thinkers. San Francisco Open Studios’ half-century operation is a testament to the enduring power of art to bridge communities, and to the unyielding spirit of the artists who have been at the forefront of shaping San Francisco’s cultural identity.From Disco Days to the Tech Craze: 50 Years of ArtSpan SF Open Studios was made possible through funding by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library and the generosity of ArtSpan’s supporters. For 50 years ArtSpan has championed an inclusive art experience and provided diverse audiences with an authentic connection to local art and artists. ArtSpan supports emerging and established artists who contribute to San Francisco’s inimitable creative energy, while bolstering the next generation of artists and encouraging the public to engage in preserving and furthering our vibrant art community. This exhibition is a part of the Arts-in-Neighborhoods, creating visibility and accessibility for local arts in San Francisco by providing the public with free, high quality arts exposure. All artwork is by local artists and available for purchase easily through an online gallery. About SFPL&nbsp;The San Francisco Public Library's Office of Exhibitions &amp; Programming administers an active exhibition program at the San Francisco Main Library at Civic Center. Four to five major exhibitions are mounted each year in the Jewett Gallery. The Library has final authority over the review, selection and arrangement of all exhibitions at the San Francisco Public Library. The Library's Office of Exhibitions &amp; Programming is responsible for ensuring that exhibitions conform to Library exhibition policies and guidelines. In addition to co-sponsoring exhibitions from outside organizations, the Office of Exhibitions &amp; Programming works with other Library departments to install exhibitions drawn primarily from Library collections. Exhibitions are supplemented by public programs that include book discussions, films, gallery talks, lectures, workshops, and other related activities. Galleries and display areas are open to the public during regular building hours. All exhibitions and programs are free to the public.
