Application for the Arts Integration Endorsement 2020-22 Cohort

Applications are currently being accepted. Click register to apply. The USBE Arts Integration Endorsement is offered through CITES at BYU. This endorsement attaches to an elementary teaching license. The course builds capacity in 6 art forms as well as in integration of the arts across the curriculum. Participants will experience hands on engaged learning in dance, drama, media arts, music, visual arts and literary arts with lessons to use with elementary students. Teachers will improve their own skills in the arts as well as learn pedagogy to teach and to integrate the arts.16 Total Credits:<ul><li>2 credits Summer, June 15-19: Teaching the Arts in the Elementary Classroom, location TBD - Because of covid, this class will now be online with adapted schedule.</li><li>2 credits Fall 2020: Arts Integration Across the Curriculum</li><li>2 credits Winter 2021: Arts Integration Across the Curriculum</li><li>2 credits Summer, June 14-18, 2021: Leadership in the Arts</li><li>2 credits Fall 2021: Leadership with capstone project</li><li>2 credits Winter 2022: Fostering Excellence in the Arts</li><li>Plus 4 elective credits with an Art Form Emphasis: Arts Express, Arts Engage, UAEA, UMEA, UDEO, UAACT, Orff, Kodaly and other approved courses with university credit or USBE credit.</li></ul> As a university course, participants will create a portfolio, complete reading and writing assignments, conduct classroom research and create other artifacts to demonstrate learning.
