When production companies arrive in town, the role they are most likely to fill with local talent is that of a Production Assistant (PA).While PA positions may not carry significant status, they provide a rare opportunity for newcomers to gain entry into the entertainment industry. However, this opportunity is reserved for those who excel and catch the attention of their employers.PAs may be tasked with running errands, directing traffic, cleaning up debris, holding coats, and performing various other simple duties. Regardless of the simplicity of the tasks, PAs who leave a positive impression may be invited to apply for more advanced roles on future projects.Interested in learning how to secure such a position? Davi DavisDavi Davis started out as a production assistant on the reality series "Randy to the Rescue," and has since worked in productions design and art departments, including multiple seasons as art department coordinator on "Atlanta," "BMF," and "The Wonder Years" series, among other productions. She is also a writer and producer who recently formed her own production company. Victoria McDevittVictoria McDevitt wrote, directed and produced the low-budget series "Fixing A Hole" and "Wildfire." She has also worked in a variety of roles on the crews of Cincinnati-based films "Killing of a Sacred Deer," "Dark Waters," and "The Old Man and The Gun."
