However, based on community feedback, we have revised our approach and have invited all District 9 Supervisor candidates.

CandidatesJulian Bermudez is a Mission-born and raised kid who is doing what feels like the impossible to bring about change in his neighborhood. Growing up at Rancho Grande Appliances, his family's small business taught him the value of hard work and selflessness. He wants to bring his hard work and passion to San Francisco politics. <a href="http://votelocalsf.com" title="http://votelocalsf.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">votelocalsf.com</a>h brown is an 80-year-old born writer who tries to get to the Front Lines and into the Foxholes of his stories. He has been a spy and Beach Jumper in the Navy and a coach and firefighter and nightclub owner and most recently, a Reform School teacher. He spends three hours a day working out and two hours picking up trash with his dog Skippy. <a href="http://sfbulldogblog.com" title="http://sfbulldogblog.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">SFBulldogblog.com</a>Trevor Chandler is a local public school teacher and newly elected DCCC member, was the District 9 representative on the Eastern Neighborhoods Citizens Advisory Committee where he led the effort to secure $200,000 to deliver equity in crosswalk coverage for the Mission and was appointed by Gov. Newsom to be an outside voice on the State Board of Pharmacy where Chandler helped take on the opioid crisis and voted to expand access to addiction treatment. As Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy for the Citizen App, Chandler put groundbreaking safety technology in the hands of the AAPI community – at no cost – when hate crimes spiked across the city.Previously, Chandler worked for the Human Rights Campaign where he organized against transphobic legislation and defended and expanded LGBTQ+ civil rights, helping lead seven marriage equality campaigns to victory. <a href="http://www.trevor4sf.com/" title="http://www.trevor4sf.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">trevor4sf.com</a>Jackie Fielder is a climate advocate, Indigenous rights activist, former SFSU educator, MUNI rider, and co-founder of the San Francisco Public Bank Coalition. She is the proud granddaughter of Mexican immigrants and Native American grandparents, and the daughter of a single working mother. In the past few years she has been co-director of a national climate coalition and a commissioner overseeing San Francisco’s clean energy provider. <a href="http://www.jackieforsf.com" title="http://www.jackieforsf.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">jackieforsf.com</a>Jaime Gutierrez is a native born San Franciscan that has spent his entire 57 years of life in the district. He is a US Army veteran, a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, and UC Berkeley. He works for SFMTA / MUNI as a Transit Controller and has previous worked for two non-profits, been a venue security person, substitute teacher, cab driver and MUNI bus driver. For the past 26 years he has worked directly with persons that have gotten back on the road to their recovery. <a href="http://gutierrez2024.com" title="http://gutierrez2024.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">gutierrez2024.com</a>Roberto Hernandez has spent over six decades organizing movements on behalf of our community: founding the Real Alternatives Program High School for students who had been expelled, building over 1,400 affordable housing units, securing funding to build Raza Park, the Mission Recreation Center, the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, Carnaval, Mission Food Hub and so much more! He has formed deep relationships across every city department and has experience building broad coalitions. Nobody is as committed to and as experienced in delivering results for this community — and that is why Roberto is running to be District 9’s next Supervisor! <a href="http://roberto4sf.com" title="http://roberto4sf.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">roberto4sf.com</a>Stephen Torres recently served San Francisco as an Entertainment Commissioner and Advisory Board Executive Co-Chair for the Castro LGBTQ Cultural District and has engaged in the community on the Board of the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club and at the Drug Policy Alliance of California, while producing nightlife and cultural events designed to support small businesses and bring community members together in safe and inclusive spaces. He is also a longtime journalist and writer for such publications as Broke-Ass Stuart, 7x7 Magazine, GayCities/Queerty, the Bold Italic and the Bay Guardian. <a href="http://stephentorressf.com" title="http://stephentorressf.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">stephentorressf.com</a>ModeratorDaniel Devitt is a long-time San Francisco and Portola resident who received his MA in Political Science from San Francisco State University. He has taught high school in San Francisco (Lowell High School) and Atherton at the Menlo School.He has been at Saint Ignatius College Prep for four years, teaching sophomore and Junior history classes and a senior elective (AP Government).In his free time, he is a College Board faculty consultant and AP Government and Politics Mentor with the College Board for Experienced AP Teachers.Outside of school, he enjoys relaxing with family and playing pickleball!
