If you are not currently a member, please consider joining. <h3>TOPIC: Cybersecurity is a Forest Fire and All I Have is a Garden Hose - Managing Emerging Threats without Burning Out</h3> Speaker 1: Scott Francis, Security Innovation Principal Director - ACCENTUREScott Francis is a Security Innovation Principal Director at Accenture, where he leads AWS Security in North America. He has been designing, building, operating, and securing Internet-facing services for organizations of all sizes, in industries around the world, since the 90s. He is pathologically curious, and his focus at Accenture (and at Amazon before that) includes emerging technology and the fascinating (and unexpected) things that happen where domains overlap. He is based in southern California, and wishes he spent more time at the beach and in the forest.Big thanks to Scott for generously hosting us, and, devising the topic for this event. Speaker 2: Derek Lazzaro, CIO - NOSSAMAN LLPDerek Lazzaro is the CIO of Nossaman LLP, an industry-leading law firm based in Los Angeles with offices across the United States. Prior to Nossaman, he was CIO of a large national law firm. Earlier in his career, he was CIO of USC’s Information Sciences Institute, where researchers pursue cutting-edge research on topics ranging from AI models to cybersecurity. He has a law degree from USC and CISSP and CIPP/US certifications. Speaker 3: Kimberly Pease, Partner &amp; COO - MARYMAN AND ASSOCIATES, INC.Ms. Kimberly Pease is a partner and COO for Maryman and Associates Inc., a digital forensics, incident response and cyber investigations firm. She has an extensive background in operations, technology and information security with an innate passion for continual improvement, risk management and business management. She has supported the needs of middle-market companies for more than three decades. She has implemented technology solutions in the US, Canada and Europe, the Pentagon and many state government offices. She currently holds a CISSP certification and has been awarded Cybersecurity Professional of the Year by the Los Angeles Business Journal CTO Awards 2017.Ms. Pease co-founded Citadel Information Group, Inc. (Citadel) in 2002, providing information security management services to small and medium-sized businesses and the not-for-profit community. She served as CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) for her clients. In January 2020, Ms. Pease and her partners sold Citadel to a top-100 certified public accounting firm.Prior to co-founding Citadel, Ms. Pease was Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Pictorial Offset Corporation, a high-end middle-market commercial printing company, where she directed the company’s ISO 9002 and ISO 14001 initiatives and during an interim 7-month period was Acting Chief Financial Officer.Ms. Pease has been a member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association since 2002 and has served for many years on the Board of Directors as Treasurer, Education Director, and Chair of the annual conference. Ms. Pease is a former member of ASQ (American Society of Quality) and previously held a Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) certification. She speaks frequently and has been interviewed several times on ABC News Good Morning America and NBC News. Moderator: Dr. Stan Stahl, President - SecureTheVillageDr. Stan Stahl has a passion for turning people and organizations into CyberGuardians™ with the knowledge, skills, and commitment they need to meet the ongoing challenges of cybercrime, cyber privacy, and information security.Dr. Stahl is the founder and President of the nonprofit SecureTheVillage. Under his leadership, SecureTheVillage is making Los Angeles the cyber-safest metropolitan region in America for smaller businesses, nonprofits, families and individuals.Dr. Stahl is uniquely qualified for this role. In 2002 he co-founded Citadel Information Group — now part of CPA-firm Miller Kaplan —to bring sound information security management practices to midsize and smaller organizations. As a cybersecurity pioneer in the 1980s, he worked on Top Secret projects for the White House, the Department of Defense, and NASA.Dr. Stahl has a long history of community service. He currently serves on the Small Business Advisory Council of the Cyber Readiness Institute and the Advisory Board of US Valor. He speaks frequently on cybersecurity and privacy topics. Dr. Stahl earned his Ph.D. in mathematics from The University of Michigan.
