NEHI’s Innovators in Health Awards recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions in health and health care.

NEHI’s Innovators in Health Awards recognizes individuals who have made lasting contributions in health and health care and inspired the community with their vision and achievements. Since the Innovator in Health award was launched 11 years ago, we have honored a host of pioneering individuals from all sectors of health care.This year&#x27;s honorees clearly demonstrate the impact of individual innovations in improving health and health care. We announce proudly:•	Rebekah Gee, MD, CEO of Health Care Services at Louisiana State University Health: Dr. Gee will be honored for her instrumental work in overseeing the state&#x27;s Medicaid expansion roll-out that reduced Louisiana&#x27;s uninsured population by nearly half. In addition, her innovative subscription payment model expanded access to life-saving hepatitis C treatments and has been implemented in several other states. •	John Maraganore, PhD, CEO of Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, NEHI member and NEHI’s 2020 Henri A. Termeer Memorial Innovator in Health Award recipient: Dr. Maraganore will be honored for his leadership in developing the first RNAi therapy. Focusing on diseases with unmet medical needs: hemophilia, cardiac-metabolic, hepatic infectious diseases and others; these innovative medicines have the potential to provide cures for multiple rare diseases and address the needs of patients who have limited treatment options. He has also done much to promote payment models that balance patient access and sustainable health care spending. •	Myechia Minter-Jordan, MD, President and CEO for DentaQuest Partnership for Oral Health Advancement and Catalyst Institute: Dr. Minter-Jordan will be honored for her dedicated work to combat the opioid epidemic, as well as her leadership in increasing access to care for vulnerable communities through development of the Harvard Primary Care Center Initiative which partners academic hospitals and community health centers to transform them into patient centered medical homes.
