The mental health of early career professionals is a critical issue that significantly impacts individual well-being and overall organizational productivity. These early career professionals, often at a pivotal stage in their lives, face unique challenges, such as high stress, workplace pressure and the transition from academic to professional environments. ABOUT THE MODERATOR:Dean Elaine Morrato, DrPH, MPH, CPH,Founding Dean, Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, Loyola University ChicagoPreviously, Dean Elaine Morrato served as interim dean at the Colorado School of Public Health and was active in standing up that new school a decade ago. Trained in epidemiology and board-certified in public health, her personal work focuses on accelerating the translation of evidence into practice with a particular focus on drug safety. Her global pharmaceutical industry experience at Procter and Gamble developing and commercializing new drugs and indications informs her implementation science research and practice. She is active in the NIH NCATS Clinical &amp; Translational Sciences Award (CSTA) program where she direct Loyola’s collaboration with the University of Chicago-Rush University Institute for Translational Medicine. She is also a mentor, and founding contributor, to the national expansion of the Innovation-Corps (I-Corps)™ training program at NCATS for ensuring problem-solution fit and the scale-up and sustainability of academic health innovation. She regularly advises the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on issues of pharmaceutical risk management and completed a visiting professorship in FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. ABOUT THE PANELISTS:Christian Amador, MBA, MScAssistant Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Meharry Medical CollegeChristian Amador, MBA, MSc, serves as the assistant vice president of strategic initiatives for the School of Global Health (SGH) at Meharry Medical College. Tasked with developing and leading the strategy plan for the newly established school, Christian provided oversight in developing and driving the mission, vision and vision imperatives that SGH has adopted.&nbsp;In his cross-sectional role, he is tasked with advancing health equity and the political determinants of health framework through school-wide initiatives that create systemic change at the intersection of policy and equity in four main areas: mental and behavioral health, population health, the political determinants of health and health communications. This initiative keeps Christian engaged in various aspects in the school’s development and evolution such as external partnerships, curriculum and program development, accreditation, faculty recruitment, student enrollment and communications, operations, academic research and writing projects. Denean Pillar-JacksonTeachone Wellness: Chief Workplace Wellness and Resilience StrategistDenean Pillar-Jackson is an 18-year workforce development executive dedicated to ‘Dignity in Employment’. She leads innovative transitions from degree-based to skills-based hiring, adapting to modern workplace needs. During the pandemic, Denean collaborated with leading Chicago corporations to implement wellness strategies that enhance recovery and resilience, ensuring all employees thrive. Her methods promote a culture of innovation, equity and productivity. A passionate mental health advocate, Denean raises awareness and builds resilience through educational seminars across diverse sectors. She holds an M.S. in finance and financial markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology, a B.S. in finance from Hampton University and multiple wellness certifications. Additionally, Denean is a 2016 Civic Leadership Fellow at the University of Chicago. Whitney Holmes, MHA,Business Consultant, Medicaid Growth &amp; Strategy, Aetna, A CVS Health CompanyWhitney Holmes is an emerging healthcare leader and health equity advocate in the General Management Development Program at the country’s leading healthcare innovation company, CVS Health, currently working as a business consultant on the Aetna Medicaid Growth &amp; Strategy team. With a passion for bridging equity and innovation to improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations, Whitney leverages experiences in provider, payor and consulting sectors to inform her approaches. Whitney received her undergraduate degree in biology from Spelman College, where she interned with the state of Georgia’s second largest health system in the Wellstar Center for Health Equity. She received her Master of Healthcare Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), where she guided implementation of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advancing Equity grant strategy in rural North Carolina communities as a consultant.She is an Atlanta, GA native, in which she recently moved back to her hometown after spending the last 18 months living in Chicago, IL. She is a consistent advocate for community service and mentoring women of color which she performs in partnership with her sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She has been a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives and American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) since 2021 where she served on multiple committees during her time at UNC. Whitney served as a panelist on the AUPHA panel during the 2024 ACHE Congress on Healthcare Leadership.
