Dundas, Opera Stage Direction Description:Join the FIU Wind Ensemble (FIUWE) as we proudly continue our 2024-25 season, "Kaleidoscope." Under the dynamic direction of Dr. Brenton Alston, our second concert promises an eclectic mix of classic wind band repertoire and opera, creating an evening of unforgettable performances.The program begins with Norman Dello Joio's Scenes from the Louvre, a multimedia experience that combines evocative music with visual elements, bringing the grandeur of the famous museum to the stage. Following this is a dramatic, groundbreaking piece for winds that powerfully captures the haunting devastation of Dresden with cutting-edge techniques and stirring depth.In the second half, the concert takes on a theatrical tone with Ernst Toch’s Egon und Emilie, a mini-opera brimming with the tension of a complex relationship. The evening concludes with “Three Penny Music” from Kurt Weil’s Three Penny Opera, a bold and satirical portrayal of Weimar Germany’s social and political landscape.
