Description of the workshop:Environmental activists and those engaged in intersectional mobilizations cansignificantly raise public awareness and build empowering alliances. However, directlyinfluencing policy-making processes to achieve socially just and sustainable lawsremains a challenge. This workshop will provide strategic knowledge of tools like bills ofpopular initiatives, referendums, petitions, and European Citizens Initiatives, which canenrich campaigns, foster better alliances, shift power dynamics, and influencepolicymaking. Goals of the Workshop:• Enhance participants' self-awareness of their political and democratic rights at alllevels.• Present examples of campaigns utilizing deliberative democracy instruments,highlighting their strengths and limitations.• Develop a basic toolkit for using these instruments in current and futuremobilizations.

Facilitator Bio:Virginia Fiume is a nonviolent activist for civil and political rights with extensiveexperience in campaigns, participatory democracy, and communication across Europe,North America, and the Middle East. Virginia holds a Policy Leader Fellowship from theEuropean University Institute, an MA in Anthropology of Media from SOAS. She isproudly queer and feminist, committed to fostering activist cooperation and democraticinnovation.
