This class with retrain the muscles thoroughly for proper usage for various dance genres and everyday tasks! As a safe dance technique in a cross-training format with various series of movements to strengthen and elongate the body. Most of the movements will be performed alone and some will be partnered with the usage of resistance bands, exercise ball, and fusion or soft toy ball, lacrosse ball, mini loop band, and BOSU balance trainer.ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR “Through Dance, There’s a Way to the Next Moment…” is a lifestyle credo that KSCDE Company Manager Zahra Carpenter lives by daily. Dance has been and continues to be, a place of peace, creative canvas, fitness trainer, life coach, mental health therapy, and overall platform to help build character in model citizens, in the youth of all ages, artists and non-artists alike. She takes pride in being able to connect to others by cultivating skills, infusing daily discipline, and redirecting negative energy by retaining composure as the inner life learning experiences that can continue outside of a dance class.
 	A native East of the River Washingtonian, Zahra began dancing at the age of five and love of volleyball in junior high school. Her love of dance led her to The Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where her knowledge of dance expanded and passion for teaching began. While at Duke Ellington she was a member of the DESA Dance Ellington, performing all over the Washington Metropolitan area as well as touring internationally in Hong Kong, China, and Amsterdam. Later she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance with a secondary concentration in Dance Education at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.
 As the Founder of Dancing Soulz, LLC Zahra has multiple projects going including D.C.H.U.G.S. (Dance Create Healthier Urbanites Grow Stronger), including a central thesis to explore a connection of wellness health concerns (such as Post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, depression, injury prevention, and post-recovery) among minority dancers. This will be the foundation in holistic healing performing arts as it is leading this elaborate dream towards becoming a leading African-Native American “Dance Doctor”.
