Saturday, September 21, 2-5pmLearn to design, carve, and print your own linocut stamp in this free, 3-hour workshop! Printmaker Taylor Hickey will guide you through the basics of relief printing - no experience needed. You may come with a design already in mind for your 3x4 inch linocut, or find inspiration after you arrive through image research and sketching. Either way, you will leave with your own hand-carved stamp and several fresh black-and-white prints on newsprint and Japanese rice paper Bio: Taylor Hickey is a printmaker, bookmaker, and sculptor working out of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Born in Southeast Texas, Taylor earned her BA in Drawing and Printmaking from McNeese State University in Louisiana. She went on to earn an MFA in Printmaking from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in 2021, developing a body of work which pays homage to the human endeavor to understand the universe at large.Post-graduation, she has held various positions as a gallerist and arts educator. She served as the Assistant Curator at the New Bedford Art Museum from 2022-2023, taught Printmaking courses at the MFA Boston, and continues to teach Drawing Foundations for RISD’s Pre-College program in the summer. In 2023 she was an Artist in Residence at the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park, and in April 2024 she curated an exhibition, “Look, But Look With Love” at the NARS Foundation in Brooklyn, NY. Additionally, her artwork has been included in various exhibitions and publications across the United States.
