This includes the physical, mental, emotional, social, and financial effects of cancer that begin at diagnosis and continue through treatment and beyond." Due to advances in screening and treatment for cancers, the number of cancer survivors is expected to continue to grow to an estimated 22.1 million by 2030. As treatments change, adverse effects or impairments from these treatments are also changing. Many of these survivors will have impairments related to their physical function, cognitive status, and emotions. Cancer rehabilitation in essential in the management of these impairments. Defining these impairments and the therapeutic modalities available to treat these challenges are essential to the rehabilitation team. The goal of this conference is to identify how prehabilitation, rehabilitation and supportive care approaches can be utilized in improving the quality of life of this patient population. At the conclusion of this activity, physicians, therapists, and other team members will have acquired the most up-to-date knowledge and strategies on prehabilitation and rehabilitation, for optimizing outcomes and survivorship in our cancer population.Learning Objectives: All Northwell Health continuing medical education activities are designed to improve patient care, safety, and outcomes.
