The purpose of this training is to educate community members on using two-way radios for emergency communications when all else fails. Additionally, each participating household will receive a free programmed radio! We cover the basic principles of radio use, including the physical components, radio etiquette, emergency communication, licensing, and organizing your community. By the end of the training, you will have an additional form of communication to better prepare for future emergencies.</p><p>This training is free! However, we kindly request a $15 donation to help us expand our mission to better serve our community. Your support is greatly appreciated, and we value you as a participant and community member. We will begin check-in 15 minutes early and distribute free programmed radios at the door before the meeting. Please try to arrive on time!

Our team leaders will introduce themselves and highlight the mission and purpose of our organization.

Introductions

Before the hands-on instruction begins, we will cover the basic principles of radio use, including the physical components, radio etiquette, licensing, community nets, emergency communication, and more.

Emergency Radio 101 - Basic Principles

Now it's your time to practice! We will break out into groups with our trainers and begin hands-on instruction. Intermediate and advanced training groups are available upon request.

Hands On Instruction

After everyone has had a chance to practice hands-on instruction, we will reconvene for a final Q&A session. This will allow participants to learn from each other and share information.
