Fundamentals of Oil Painting - Part 1

Monica is a Classical Realist trained in the methods of the Old Masters and applies this to her nostalgic works of art. She paints a wide variety of subject matter, but enjoys the challenges that come along with painting people and animals the most. She prefers the Flemish method of oil painting using black oil and ground pigments.Her work is part of both private & business collections, as well as murals which can be found primarily in the Northeast. In addition, she teaches private & group art lessons, including Paint & Sip events either at your home or a prearranged location. Bridal showers, friends night out, bachelorette parties, team building events are a few of the classes available.

Wild Hare Gallery

This course will introduce students to the basics of oil painting and composition through a series of exercises. Topics covered will be material, basic color theory, color mixing, setting up the palette, under painting options, perspective &amp; understanding light.
Students will work from still life’s.

Materials you will need to bring to class:
 • Bring an apron, old rag &amp; something to drink
Canvas, oils, medium &amp; brushes are provided.
If you prefer your own paints &amp; brushes, &amp; want to practice at home, consider a kit.
•	Kits are available for purchase $58.00* 
Kit includes – 
o	10 tubes of Winsor &amp; Newton oils 21 ml
o	5 synthetic acrylic/oil paintbrushes – filberts, flats &amp; rounds
o	Utrecht Oil painting medium
o	2 canvases 12 x 16 
Kits are created on an as needed basis. If you need one, let me know at least 7 days before class starts.
