Artist Matt Klos will lead a 3-hour public demo of his painting technique and process at  Manifest Drawing Center.

On Friday, August 9, Manifest Drawing Center will welcome artist Matt Klos to our Central Parkway facility, where he will be conducting a 3-hour public demonstration of his painting technique and process (includes a 30-minute intermission). Matt will discuss each phase of his painting process while completing a painting in front of the audience. About the Instructor:Matt Klos received his MFA in painting from University of Maryland, College Park and his BFA from Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD). He is a recipient of three Individual Artist Awards from the Maryland State Arts Council (2016, 2012 and 2008). His work has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions including the Prince Street Gallery in Chelsea, NY in 2011. He was awarded first place in the Bethesda Painting Awards in 2007 and received an Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant in 2001. Klos currently teaches drawing and painting full-time at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD and has served as a guest lecturer/critic at various institutions including the New York Academy of Art, Boston University, College of William &amp; Mary, Towson University, University of Missouri, and Mount Gretna School of Art. He is a member of the collective <a href="http://www.perceptualpainters.com/" title="http://www.perceptualpainters.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Perceptual Painters</a> and <a href="http://www.zeuxis.us/" title="http://www.zeuxis.us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zeuxis</a>. Matt lives and works in Baltimore Maryland.

Manifest's mission is to stand for quality in the visual arts, as well as the importance of creative research, meaningful and accessible art-based experiences for the public, deep learning, and the rigorous documentation of exceptional art for posterity.Our Drawing Center promotes and explores drawing, photography, and related activities as rich and culturally significant art forms through the pursuit of educational hands-on activities focused on visual literacy, critical thinking, and skill development.Manifest's new facility, "M1" at 3464 Central Parkway, provides multiple studio classrooms, private lesson space, a darkroom, a film processing room, and a multi-purpose lecture and class meeting space as well as on-site parking, grounds, and exterior spaces in which to relax, discuss, and make art. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.
