be your own valentine: increase self-love through self-compassion
Celebrate the one you love on Valentine's day and then celebrate LOVING YOURSELF with us on Saturday, February 15.
Valentine's Day is a celebration of love, but too often we narrowly define that love as an outward expression toward others. What about the love we have for ourselves? I frequently hear people talk about their struggle with loving themselves, exactly as they are.
Increased self-compassion helps us to silence that inner critic that relentlessly demands perfection and drives us to pursue, pursue, pursue...without ever taking the time we need to just...be.
This event will focus on the work of leading researchers in the field of self-compassion and teach the tools for treating yourself more kindly, and with more patience, care, and love.
The workshop will incorporate discussion, self-reflection, opportunities for writing and journaling, as well as mindfulness to demonstrate the science behind self-compassion and also to give participants a chance to test it out in a warm, safe, and collaborative environment.
No prior meditation experience necessary and everyone is welcome to this event.
This event will be held at One Epic Place in New Paltz. Space will be limited.
