In 2024, the European Union has succedeed in adopting the first comprehensive legislation on artificial intelligence on a global scale, also known as Artificial Intelligence Act (or AI Act). The quick expansion of artificial intelligence technologies across society has been one of the primary reasons for moving AI policy from system based on ethics and standard to a legal framework. The impact of the AI Act will be broad, not only because the EU AI Act will be the first legally binding act worldwide but also because of its approach based on risk-assessment and enforcement structure. The aim of this training is to familiarise participants with the obligations and structure coming from the AI Act and understand its position and role into the broader picture of European digital policy. Learning Objectives:<ul><li>The scope and structure of the AI Act</li><li>The risk-based approach and related obligations</li><li>Conformity Assessment and Fundamental Rights Impact Assessment</li><li>The enforcement of the AI Act</li><li>The connection between AI Act and European data protection law</li><li>The role of the AI Act in European digital policy and on a global scale</li></ul> This training will be a live virtual session and will be in CET Timezone. After completing each training course, you will receive a digital badge from Credly that can be shared on your professional network as a mark of the skills you’ve acquired. FPF Faculty:Giovanni De Gregorio, PLMJ Chair in Law and Technology at Católica Global School of Law and Católica Lisbon School of LawGiovanni's research interest deals with digital constitutionalism, freedom of expression, privacy and data protection law, digital policy. Giovanni is the author of the monograph Digital Constitutionalism in Europe. Reframing Rights and Powers in the Algorithmic Society (Cambridge University Press 2022).
