Salvation: Love as Resistance is an unapologetic celebration of love’s transformative power. When there is so much uncertainty, it can be hard to lose focus on the fact that Love may be the only thing that will save us all. Shea Butter Babies Productions™ invites you to an evening of radical connection, self-love, community, and liberation. Through burlesque, live music, and a variety of performance styles, Salvation explores the many forms of love—romantic, self-affirming, communal, and political—and its role as a tool of resistance.As Audre Lorde once wrote, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” This production gives nod to the work of bell hooks, Salvation: Black People and Love, and celebrates the vast range and strength of Black love as a revolutionary force.
