Why is the Park only accessible by car?

Accepted Answer

Freshkills Park is not yet open to the general public. Due to on-going construction at the Park and the nature of the site, currently we have to drive in or out of the site per city regulations. Once we are officially open, there will be so many ways to get to and enjoy and Freshkills Park!

What wildlife can we expect to see during the nature walk?

Accepted Answer

Freshkills Park is ever-changing and different critters tend to come and go as the seasons change. Common fauna include white-tailed deer, red foxes, bald eagles, red-tailed hawks, painted turtles, garter snakes, turkey vultures, osprey, groundhogs, and more!

How long is the nature walk?

Accepted Answer

This nature walk is approximately one mile long. Depending on the group, this can take between 1.15-2 hours.
