Please join Allegheny County Conservation District (ACCD), Findlay Township and the Montour Run Watershed Association as we celebrate the completion of the Activity Center Rain Gardens.
The rain gardens were funded through a Growing Greener Grant provided by the PA Department of Environmental Protection with matching funds from Findlay Township. They are designed to improve water quality in Montour Run by filtering sediment and absorbing nutrients commonly found in stormwater pollution. The project enhances educational opportunities for Activity Center and Montour Trail visitors through interpretive signage on the positive impacts of green infrastructure, a nature-based solution to stormwater pollution.
The project was an implementation goal of the 2019 Montour Run Watershed Assessment and Implementation Plan, a collaborative effort between ACCD, Montour Run Watershed Association and the municipalities of the Montour Run Watershed.
Please join us as we celebrate this fruitful collaboration, tour the garden and explore potential implementation projects in Montour Run Watershed.
