Frequently asked questions

What is a Gospel singing convention?

A singing convention is a longstanding practice of singers gathering together from all kinds of backgrounds, denominations, and locations to sing the latest or old Gospel hymns. Additionally, it is a prime means for Christians to fellowship with each other!

Is there an admission fee?

No! The Convention has and will always be a free, open function for the local community. Any funds collected during the sessions will only come from offerings.

What songbooks are used at the convention?

Our choice songbooks are from Gospel music companies that annually publish songs from modern Gospel songwriters. Examples of some current music companies are Jeffress/Phillips Music Co., Cumberland Valley Music Co., Byrdhouse Music Co., Leoma Music Co., and 7-Shape Music Co.

What is the style of these Gospel songs?

The musical style of the songs sung at conventions vary, but many of them are related to the classic rag-time, Southern Gospel style. Other songs are more endemic to the sacred style of church music. Overall, the music is rather diverse in form, theme, and style.
