About this event

  • 58 days 7 hours

During 6 weeks, Manxs Americanxs will activate 340 E 64th St. as a place of joint creation and growth, intertwining artistic disciplines (artists, curators, arts administrators, art historians, journalists) and opening the space to audiences and the general public. Manxs Americanxs would like to create encounters with audiences and other arts practitioners and invite them to engage in the processes through conversations, activations, collaborations, encounters, and a series of events that aim to connect us further. Manxs Americanxs as collective will embark on an exploration process led by the interests and concerns of each member.

One of the main questions will be to explore how Manxs Americanxs as immigrants and first-generation women identified Latinx working in the arts, can create new/safe spaces for others. The exploration process will be supported by Materials For The Arts (MFTA) not only as a source of materials but also as a supporting ally in re-thinking materials' power and ability to transform. These explorations will be braided with opportunities to celebrate between Manxs Americanxs and with others, with an aim to expand the creative energy in acknowledgment of the process, results, and its rippling effects. We hope that these shared experiences will serve as new beginnings for encounters, friendships, collaborations, connections, and an expanded community.
