The Florida Invasive Species Council invites all natural resource professionals, invasive species researchers, students, and others interested in this topic to the 2025 FISC Annual Conference March 18-21 at the Hilton Convention Center-University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.This year’s theme: Seas to TreesAll attendees will benefit from the information exchange and networking opportunities afforded by this conference including a vendor product display. CEUs will be offered in several categories. The agenda will feature a plenary session highlighting success stories from the field. There will be a graduate student competition with cash prizes for best oral presentation and best poster presentation. FISC 2025 Field TripsNatural Areas Teaching Lab with University of FloridaExplore Gainesville’s diverse ecosystems with the Natural Areas Teaching Lab (NATL), just 0.7 miles from the Hilton. Led by NATL Co-chair Gage LaPierre, this guided tour will showcase the University of Florida's 60-acre on-campus natural area dedicated to conservation and outdoor education. This excursion will focus on managing invasive species such as natal grass, hairy indigo, and coral ardisia. Gain insight into ecological challenges and conservation strategies while exploring Gainesville’s natural landscapes.<ul><li>Maximum Capacity: 20 attendees (ample parking available)</li><li>Meeting Location: 3300 SE 15th St, Gainesville, FL 32641</li><li>Parking: Northern-most parking lot</li><li>Distance from Hotel: 6.3 miles | 18-min drive</li><li>Trip Leader: Jesse Natwick</li></ul>Serenola Forest Preserve with Alachua Conservation TrustACT's Fire Management Specialist, Rachel Townsend, will lead an in-depth tour of Serenola Forest Preserve. This 111-acre hardwood forest, linked to Paynes Prairie, faces significant challenges in managing an extremely dense infestation of coral ardisia.
