A moderated panel discussion with three of Caltech’s top scientific leaders.

Explore Caltech presents a moderated conversation about how science shapes and explains sports. Three of Caltech’s top scientific leaders, refereed by an Emmy-award winning ESPN sports commentator, will consider everything from the science behind sports scandals to how to win a game of tennis on Mars.

With panelists:

  • Thomas F. Rosenbaum, Caltech President; Sonja and William Davidow Presidential Chair; Professor of Physics
  • David A. Tirrell, Caltech Provost, Ross McCollum-William H. Corcoran Professor of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Carl and Shirley Larson Provostial Chair
  • Michael M. Watkins, Vice President and Director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Professor of Aerospace and Geophysics

Moderated by:

  • John Brenkus, Emmy-award winning creator and host of ESPN’s Sports Science.

Admission: This event is free and open to the public. Because seating is limited inside Beckman Auditorium, online registration is requested. Registered guests will be given priority seating.

Parking: Parking will be available in Caltech's parking structures for free with no permit required. There are Caltech parking structures at 341 S. Wilson and 405 S. Wilson.
