Between 1975 to 1992, almost two million Vietnamese risked their lives to flee communist oppression and hardship after the Vietnam War, in one of the largest mass exoduses in modern history. Prior to 1975 there were only 40,000 Vietnamese living in America, by 1992 there were roughly 450,000, most fled the country as refugees by make-shift fishing boats. Today there are 2.2M Vietnamese-Americans comprising of first and second generations, making it the 4th largest Asian-origin group in America.The Vietnamese Boat People podcast is a collective of multi-generational stories of hope, survival and resiliency of the Vietnamese diaspora and the success stories of the community today.We are a nonprofit, 501c3 tax-exempt organization with the mission of preserving these inspiring stories for future generations.
