Who is the event for? Should parents stay during the conference?

The conference is designed for creative writers and their parent. There will be experiences throughout the weekend for both youth and their parents to enjoy, both individually and together.

What do the different ticket options mean?

Accepted Answer

A regular ticket covers one youth writer + a parent/guardian. The pay-it-forward option supports our ability to include all who would like to attend, regardless of ability to pay. The subsidized ticket is for those who need a lower-cost ticket in order to attend.

Question 3

Can I include more people in my ticket order?

Yes! Additional family members and writers can be added to any ticket level with the $20 add-on option.

Question 4

What should I wear?

Most of the conference will take place in indoor spaces, but we will have lunch out on the patio, and there are some breakout activities that make use of the beautiful redwood grove on our host campus. We recommend that you bring a light layer and any other items that will make you feel comfortable.

What should I bring?

We encourage you to bring a notebook and pen for your writing. Computers and tablets are allowed, but internet may not be available for all attendees due to guest internet bandwidth limitations. Please bring a water bottle as the host campus has an earth care policy that disallows bottled water.

Snacks, beverages, and lunch will be provided. You can indicate dietary restrictions in your registration. Please bring a water bottle as the host campus has an earth care policy that disallows bottled water.

What is happening on Friday?

Check in begins at 6:30 on Friday. We’ll have a welcome session and an inspiring keynote featuring New York Times Best Selling author Joanna Ho. Our evening will close with a reception and a book-signing with Joanna and our Inklings authors.  See the schedule for more details.

And on Saturday?

Check in begins at 9:30 am on Saturday. Then, we move into our Opening Session to frame up the day’s experiences. We'll have breakout sessions, lunch, and top off the day with our Inklings Book Launch and celebration of this year’s published Inklings. See the schedule for more details.

What will breakout sessions be like?

Our breakout sessions will be an opportunity to roll up your sleeves, play with words, experiment with characters, story-concepts, and explore the many ways that words can move us. You'll walk away from the conference with inspiration and writing momentum to take back to your own writing desk.

Question 10

Should I stay for the whole conference?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The conference is designed as an immersive experience and is intended to be experienced in full. Late arrival and/or an early departure will not be ideal for attendee experience.
