DWC isa community of dedicated volunteers: attendings, residents, medical students, post-bac pre-meds, and undergraduates, all aspiring to challenging the status quo in medicine by encouraging and rewarding creativity. With our efforts based in an online website, we aim to bring newfound awareness to thecreative things—paintings, poetry, podcasts, and more—that are already happening in medicine, cultivate physician and student networks, and provide inspiration for future physicians.Learn more about us at www.doctorswhocreate.com

Doctors Who Create

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The second annual Creativity in Medicine Conference is CANCELLED. 
Unfortunately, the evolving COVID-19 outbreak and resulting conference travel bans instituted by many of the medical institutions that our DWC team, speakers, and attendees are part of have forced us to re-examine our efforts from the perspective of ensuring the health and well-being of our attendees and that patient care remains the priority for all clinicians and healthcare professionals. 
We are extremely disappointed by these circumstances, as the decision to cancel was not one we wanted to make, but it is one to which we have devoted a great deal of thought. We also felt it essential to make the decision as soon as possible to provide clarity for those who are seeking to establish travel plans and/or in the midst of planning presentations, discussions, and workshops. 
We have every intention of holding the conference next year in Philadelphia. If you have already registered, we are in the process of working with the site, our vendors, and our sponsors to see if a refund is possible. This year’s registration will automatically be applied toward next year’s conference.

Come celebrate with us at the second annual Creativity in Medicine Conference, held at the heart of arts education and creative exploration in Philadelphia—the University of the Arts. Starting at 5PM on the evening of Friday, March 27th, attend special gallery tours at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, enjoy a musical concert by the Penn Med Orchestra, and attend an art exhibition opening that features physician artists in our community. Then, join creative colleagues in the healthcare sphere in a daylong symposium on Saturday, March 28th, as they discuss their work as artists, writers, activists, dancers, designers, entrepreneurs, musicians, podcasters, and more! Hear a diverse range of "Creative Talks," acquire a new skill set in a workshop, participate in facilitated discussions about hot topics in medicine, and attend or participate in a story slam! Final program will be posted on our <A HREF="http://www.doctorswhocreate.com/conference/" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">conference page</A>; we will keep all registrants updated as speakers are added. Email Liz Upton (eupton@sas.upenn.edu) by midnight on Friday, March 6th if you are interested in submitting an art piece for the exhibit and/or our website.

Following the same structure as the morning streams, the afternoon provides more opportunities to attend a new set of "Creative Talks," skill-building workshops, and/or "flipped" discussions (based on creative themes in medicine), as well as visit our Open Lounge for coffee, art displays, and more.
