<a href="https://www.chamberqueer.org" title="https://www.chamberqueer.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">ChamberQUEER</a> is thrilled to present Constellation, our 2024 Pride Month celebration of queer community, diversity, and excellence in chamber music! Featuring multiple live performances and workshops every day, ChamberQUEER 2024: Constellation runs Tuesday, June 11 through Sunday, June 16 at MITU580. EVENT DETAILSIn a nation as diverse as America, where the very definition of "American" continues to expand, what does American classical music truly sound like? Amir Farsi presents a recital in collaboration with Maxwell Foster examining that question by showcasing works by queer and POC composers, as well as composers who have immigrated to the United States. Join Farsi and Foster to explore the rich tapestry of voices that have shaped, and continue to shape, the ever-evolving American sound. Iranian- and Pakistani-American flutist <a href="https://www.amirfarsi.com/" title="https://www.amirfarsi.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Amir Hoshang Farsi</a>’s playing has been described as “virtuosic and birdlike” (I Care if You Listen) and having a “beautiful sound and personal sense of expression” (New York Classical Review). Amir has made appearances at notable halls and music festivals including Carnegie Hall, the Banff Centre, MASS MoCA, the Guggenheim Museum, Lincoln Center, the Time:Spans Festival, the New World Center, Music@Menlo and Norfolk Chamber Music Festivals, the Bang on a Can Festival, the St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar, the Annapolis and Lake George Music Festivals, the UN Chamber Music Society, and the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival. Amir is an alumnus of Ensemble Connect (2020-2023)—a joint fellowship through Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and the Weill Institute of Music. A native of Brisbane, Australia, <a href="https://www.maxwellfoster.com/about" title="https://www.maxwellfoster.com/about" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Maxwell Foster</a> studied piano at the Australian National Academy of Music under the guidance of Rita Reichman. Moving to the United States to further his studies, he gained his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School, followed by his Master of Musical Arts degree at Yale University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins under the guidance of Yong-hi Moon. Maxwell has performed with major orchestras in Australia, at Hamer Hall, the Sydney Opera House, the Perth Concert Hall, and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre. He has also performed at international venues such as Carnegie Hall, New York and Wigmore Hall, London.
